Barry Cuda

When you’re in the water with a great barracuda you notice they have wicked sharp teeth that stick out at odd angles. They circle and hover, watching closely.

So they're not the most pleasant diving companions, but they do put up a strong, showy fight on hook-and-line. Sometimes they raid our catch, especially when we're after tuna. We'll hook the tuna and reel, then suddenly feel the fight go out. We end up with the front half of the fish, having paid the back half as tax to the territorial barracuda for invading his space.

In "Barry Cuda" I used chiri paper for the original. It has vertical lines and leaf inclusions that give the reproductions their great visual texture. The long, strong line of the fish looks great on this or any paper.
