Mojarra are shiny silver fish that like the shallow water. They hang around sand, grass, reefs or other structure. They like it all, so they are easy to find.

Fortunately, my dock is a structure the mojarra like. That's one of the many great things about coastal living in Florida. You can go out to the back yard with your cast net and bring in a great gyotaku subject. That's what I did for this painting.
